What to Expect

The following information will help you to know what to expect once you have made your appointment for acupuncture.  If you have any further queries, please contact us.

  • You will receive confirmation of your appointment by text message the day before your treatment.
  • It is important to eat a good breakfast on the day (& not to consume any alcohol).
  • Please allow one hour for your appointment.
  • Consultation or follow-up can take up to 15 minutes.
  • For diagnostic purposes, Sarah may ask to see your tongue & feel your pulse.
  • Patients remain clothed, removing only their shoes, socks and t-shirt when necessary.
  • Small, premium quality, pain-free Chinese or Japanese needles are inserted into chosen body & ear points.  Bamboo cups and/or a heat lamp are used when necessary.
  • Needles are in place for 25 minutes of deep relaxation.  For your comfort, Sarah remains in the clinic room taking written notes of the treatment given.  She is there to help if you are feeling too warm/cold during your treatment.
  • One by one the needles are removed.  Patients may be offered ear seeds.  Ear seeds can be pressed on particular ear points for two days, this supports the treatment process.
  • Dietary or lifestyle advice may then be given & you will have an opportunity to ask questions.
  • Payments are made directly to Sarah by cash/cheque & patients are offered available follow-up appointment times.
  • A receipt is provided by email to assist your health insurance claim.  They are sent out each week on Saturday or Sunday.

You can expect your treatment to be supportive, relaxing and very enjoyable!  Ling Acupuncture is a ‘slow clinic’.  We see one patient at a time, for one hour appointments and there is time to ask questions and sip some water before you leave.
